Let me start by saying I love watching soccer. I do! But I am not a soccer fan. I enjoy the physical strength shown by great big men chasing after a small ball. And the madness of them thinking of getting it into the wide net!

What I find really hilarious is the sheer bliss they express when they score. Hello that is not like rocket science look at the size of the ball and the goal keeper is not even wide enough to cover the net so the ball would have gone in anyway!

What I live for and I speak on behalf of many women when I watch soccer is the moment some hot guy scores and in the heat of the moment he takes off his shirt and underneath the shirt is the body of Adonis! But alas that is an offence!

You see if you are brave enough or stupid enough to show off your nicely sculptured abs you will have earned yourself a booking. A yellow card they call it! Why?

A booking? What? Is there anything wrong in being so deliriously happy at scoring that you show a bit of flesh? It is your upper body for god’s sake.

Apparently it is a FIFA enforced rule and I think it is a dumb one. And many females concur on this one. We do not particularly understand many of the soccer jargon goal kick, throw in – really where else would the ball be thrown?

Then there is this crazy one, offside. Is it anyone’s fault that some clever striker happens to be at an advantage and in a position to score after all the defenders are daft enough to be lagging behind.

Still the no shirt off rule takes the proverbial trophy!

I have tried to find the logic behind the rule and some explanations that I have heard are that taking off one’s shirt wastes time, especially if you happen to be on the losing team play is delayed until the other players have dressed up and I am thinking hello!!! What is injury time for?

Then some say it is because some woman soccer player scored took off their shirt in celebration. So what if she did? I do not believe for a second that when she did that she did it seductively and no sane soccer loving person found that a turn on.

Some went on to say it is because the shirts they were have advertisers logos on them and it is usually when someone scores that the logo gets enough air play so if the shirt is off then the focus is on the naked upper body of the player. I say that is being too greedy for nothing it is not as if the players score every second. So what happens when no one scores? Does it mean that they would not have gotten enough air play? Well in that case they should be suing for something, init?

This one is my favourite. They are afraid that some players wear shirts with messages under their soccer jerseys. And being the sensible people that they are they don’t want to offend anyone should a player take of his shirt and he has an insulting message on it. I think it is totally ridiculous shouldn’t they wait and punish the person accordingly?

This one you have to like it. They say it is a measure against excessive celebrating. Gosh when a person has scored three times in one match he /she should be allowed to celebrate however they want! They can stand on their heads if they want and fly if they could!

Remove the keep the shirt on rule I say.
