desperateThe Home Affairs Ministers from Zimbabwe and South Africa have signed an agreement which allows Zimbabweans wishing to travel to South Africa for periods of less than 90 days to do so without requiring a Visa. This is very good news to the millions of people in Zimabweans wishing to escape the devastating economic collapse of the once prosperous african country.

On the new developments, Zimbabwe Home Affairs Minister Giles Mutsekwa said: “Our people will be joyous back home. Because of this understanding, it is now possible for Zimbabwean nationals to come to South Africa freely.”

The Zimbabwean economy has contracted about 80% for the past 10 years ever since the beginning of the country’s violent and chaotic land reform programme began under the order of President Robert Mugabe. The winds of change are, however, blowing in Zimbabwe with the formation of a Government of National Unity entered into between President Mugabe and long time rival Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. The country is not quite a democracy yet, but progress is being made.
