When your little brother burns the house down by accident and you take the blame for it and you fear he will be grounded even when he goes to an old people’s home that is loyalty. If the same little brother burns the house when he is an adult and you do everything in your power to make sure that no one finds out that is called moral and ethical decadence.

It is short of pledging allegiance to the devil himself because no matter how good your intentions are, what is wrong is wrong.

Is it not crazy how people hide potentially damaging information because “I was only trying to protect my mother, father or whoever”? When a person does something very illegal and you shield the person from repercussions you are morally guilty. It does not matter who you are standing up for, if something is not right it is not right it does not matter how you sugar coat it and try making yourself believe you were doing it for the right reasons.

Loyalty vs Morality

The unfortunate part is that deep down you know and everybody knows, ‘ your right reasons were wrong to begin with’. It means you are a moral and ethical coward because you cannot stand up for what is right. It also means your loyalty for that illegal act means there is no stopping you from protecting even a mass murder because allegiances come first.

What happens when the both of you get caught is what is interesting because you both will be guilty and unfortunately you cannot tell the police that you were only trying to be loyal. It will be a case of you made the bed now lie on it.

Ruefully you would maybe smile because you know you put needles on that bed when you were making it.
