In 90% of Web developer’s top 10 toolbox, you’ll find a nifty Firefox plugin called ‘Firebug‘. Google decides to silently take over, by adding an essential tool ‘Page Speed‘.

This is little ‘Firefox’ plugin will be particularly essential to Webmasters and web developers, which they can use to evaluate the performance of their web pages and to get suggestions on how to improve them.

It sits nicely to the Firebug tabs and with this tool you can improve your web sites in the all critical loading time, reduce bandwidth and some other mandane claims that marketing guys like tot talk about.

For as much as I think that this baby rocks! I am failing to see the big difference between this Page Speed and YSlow. They essentially do the exact same thing, besides one being from Google and the other Yahoo. The suggestions and advice that these 2 plugins is round about 90% the same.

I personally find Yahoo’s YSlow more informative than Google’s version. I would use Google’s version simply because they’re crazy enough to start ranking sites on a complex matrix that may include site loading speeds. Other than that, there’s no reason I’d use this tool over YSlow.

I guess this one will make it to most developer’s desks because we trust Google.

Give it a test drive and see if you like it half as much as the rest of us ‘square eyed beings‘.
